The bascinet – also bassinet, basinet, or bazineto, was a Medieval European open-faced combat helmet.
It evolved from a type of iron or steel skullcap, but had a more pointed apex to the skull, and it extended downwards at the rear and sides to afford protection for the neck.
A mail curtain (aventail or camail) was usually attached to the lower edge of the helmet to protect the throat, neck and shoulders
First reference to a bascinet, was in the Italian city of Padua in 1281, being worn by infantry. The bascinet evolved from the cervelliere.
The leather strip is included in the price, on request it is possible to apply the holes to be able to insert or remove your aventail at any time independently and very easily.
Although the helmet resists very strong blows, the face is exposed, we do not recommend using this helmet for buhurt.
The helmet is instead perfect for display, historical re-enactments and LARP.
These medieval helmets are produced in Italy by expert Italian blacksmiths and craftsmen, for generations we have passed down the art of producing helmets and armor, using the best raw materials.
