The Basinet helmet (English: Basinet; German: Beckenhaube; French: Bassinet) was a helmet used during the Hundred Years' War. It was a typically European medieval helmet, derived from the cervelliere helmet, initially without face protection, later featuring a visor hinged in the center or at the sides. The Basinet was worn with a coif attached to the lower edge of the helmet or over a gorget. This type of helmet is distinguished by the pointed shape of the cup and the slight inclination backwards.

This helmet is also known as the Houndskull (Hunskull, Dog-Muzzle Bascinet), an English translation of the German hundsgugel (dog's head), a term derived from the pointed visor found in a discovery dating from the late 14th to the early 15th century. It is also called the "pig's face," although this latter term is a more modern term. The pointed, protruding visor (the so-called muzzle) was designed to better protect the face from blows during combat and to allow for greater ventilation.

A chainmail fan, known as a "barbuta," is riveted along the edge to protect the neck.

Used by heavy cavalry in the second half of the 14th century. Made entirely of hand-worked steel.
