Valsgärde 8 Viking helmet

This beautiful, highly detailed Vendelhelm is a replica of an original find from the ship grave at Valsgärde (Bootsgrab 8), a farm on the banks of the river Fyris (Fyrisån) near Old Uppsala (Gamla Uppsala), Sweden.

The tomb is dated c. AD 625-650 and the warrior's helmet lay at his feet. The original piece is kept in the Gustavianum Museum at Uppsala University.

The replica was made of 2 mm steel and equipped with an aventail made of flat, riveted rings with an inner diameter of 8 mm.

The plates are made of thinner steel (pressed sheet metal) and are attached to the helmet with brass bands. The comb and the eyebrows are also made of brass.

The elaborate patterns are faithful reproductions of the original motifs. This early medieval goggle helmet is equipped with an adjustable leather inlay and a chin strap.

This helmet is only designed as a collector's item or decorative object and is therefore not suitable for exhibition combat.
