The Samnites were an ancient tribe, subjected by the Romans. Many of them have been enslaved and had to fight as gladiators from then on. This way the gladiator type of the Samnites arose. The Samnites were a powerful and magnificent league of fighters, armed with a plumed helmet, a breastplate from steel, a gauntlet, greaves and a scutum. As weapon they preferred the Gladius (sword), sometimes a lance. The Hoplomachus may have developed out of the Samnites.

Our replica is hand-chased from 1.6mm strong brass. It has no fixed liner, but deliveryy includes a padded coif.
