The Kettle Hat (Chapel de fer in French, cappello d'arme in Italian, Eisenhut in German) is the name used to indicate a particular type of iron helmet in use in Europe around the year 1000.
It was widely used by infantry forces and served as an archetype in the Late Middle Ages for the development of Renaissance helmets of the "Morione" and "Cabasset" types.
