Viking Helmet with Cheek Guards and AventailThis Viking helmet, inspired by the Gjermundbu model and ready for combat, is handcrafted from 1 to 2 mm thick carbon steel. The finish can be customized: bright carbon steel (historical version), dark carbon steel (blued), or 1 mm thick stainless steel. Its appearance clearly demonstrates its close relationship with helmets from the Vendel period, which preceded the Viking Age. The bands and the front plate are made of thick steel to ensure maximum protection and durability and are secured with steel rivets. The blackened interior is equipped with a leather suspension liner, and the leather chin strap fastens with a steel buckle. The helmet features cheek guards and an aventail or mail coif made of chainmail, customizable with galvanized round rings or riveted rings, extending down to the shoulders to protect the neck. The aventail or mail coif is directly attached to the lower edge of the helmet bowl. This magnificent medieval combat helmet is fully wearable and is also perfect for historical reenactments, medieval events, or simply as a decorative collector’s item. With the exception of the first photo, all other images show the stainless steel version with an aventail made of galvanized round rings. Entirely handcrafted by skilled Italian blacksmiths and artisans
