Falcata with Horse Head Handle, incl. Sheath & Companion Knife, 4th-3rd c. BC

The falcata is the typical pre-Roman sword of the Celtiberians, a Celtic people that lived on the Iberian Peninsula, chiefly in what is now north central Spain, before and during the Roman Era. The sword is similar to the Greek kopis and the Nepalese khukri. Our falcata is a replica of a sword from the 4th - 3rd century BC. Particularly outstanding is the richly decorated brass handle in the shape of a horse head. The handle scales are made of bone and fastened with brass rivets. The EN45 spring steel blade is also very ornate, featuring many fullers. The scope of delivery includes a small companion knife with a bone handle. Neither the sword nor the knife are sharpened.

The sword and knife are housed in a beautiful wooden scabbard bound in red leather and equipped with a throat, a chape, bands and articulated suspension rings made of brass. This sword is designed as a collector's or decoration/display piece and, besides its quality as a collectible, is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume.
