The Greek hoplites were usually protected by their large, round shield. The lower leg parts, however, were mostly uncovered. Therefore, the warriors of antiquity wore metal greaves. They were usually made of bronze, strong enough to provide good protection, but also thin and light enough to be completely wearable.
Like the originals, our reconstructions are simply slightly bent open and then clamped over the lower leg. They remain in position without any further attachment with buckles or the like.
The greaves have a leather edge and are lined with soft felt.
