The cornu or cornum is an ancient brass instrument used in the Roman Empire. In the Roman army, it was carried by theso-called cornicen (horn blower) and employed to send coded orders across the battlefield in the form of horn signals. Outside the battlefield, it also served as a ceremonial music instrument.
This functional replica is made of brass and equipped with a wooden handle. The horn is delivered unmounted. It is composed of three threaded tubes, a mouthpiece and a crossbar/handle. The final assembly is very easy and needs to be carried out by the customer.
