Typical 16th century European knight helmet worn by men, usually in combination with full armor.
Equipped with a highly elaborate movable eye-slot visor, a fan mounted on a swivel and has holes for ventilation as well as an open barb.
The knight's helmet (armet) perhaps of Florentine Italian manufacture was developed in the 15th century, the first helmet of its time to completely enclose the head, used in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The typical knight's helmet (armet) consisted of four pieces: the skull, the two large hinged cheek pads that locked in front above the chin, and a visor that had a double pin, one on either side of the skull. The pillows opened laterally; when closed they overlapped the chin. Made entirely of steel, handmade and wearable. Made in Italy.
