Bascinet with Klappvisor - battle-ready

Reconstruction of a late medieval bascinet of the 14th Century with folding Klappvisor and was usually worn together with a mail curtain ("camail" or aventail), was usually attached to the lower edge of the helmet to protect the throat, neck and shoulders. This version has a Klappvisor which can be locked at the sides with a hook but can also be completely removed.

The bascinet evolved in the early 14th Century from the cervelliere, but had a more pointed apex to the skull, and it extended downwards at the rear and sides to afford protection for the neck.

This model of medieval helmet bascinet was popular in the XIV century.

A comfortable, adjustable, and padded liner is riveted into the helmet, as well as a leather chin-strap with a stell buckle.
