Bascinet Helmet - Medieval Helmet

This is a fully battle-ready, authentic replica of a helmet from approx 1440 a.d. found in northern Italy. The original is displayed in the Wallace Collection in London.

 The first reference to a bascinet, was in the Italian city of Padua in 1281, being worn by infantry. It is believed that the bascinet evolved from the cervelliere, which was worn with a mail coif, as either the sole form of head protection or beneath a great helm.

Reconstruction of a late medieval bascinet of the 14th Century with mail curtain ("camail" or aventail), attached to the lower edge of the helmet to protect the throat, neck and shoulders. 

This model of medieval helmet is compliant to SCA-standards.

You can upgrade your helmet by choosing options: thickness of metal, steel finish (polished or burnished), head circumference.

A comfortable, adjustable, and padded liner is riveted into the helmet, as well as a leather chin-strap with a stell buckle.

Chainmail is made from butted, zinc-plated, high-carbon steel rings, woven 4 in 1. Outer ring diameter: 12 mm - 1.6 mm thick rings
